The private taxi from Budva to Dhermi covers approximately 330 km and takes around 7 hours including a rest stop at Vlorë — connecting the Montenegrin Riviera with one of the finest beach destinations on the Albanian Riviera. Budva is the capital of the Montenegrin Riviera — a medieval walled Old Town on a rocky peninsula, surrounded by the finest beaches on the eastern Adriatic: Mogren, Jaz, Bečići (Blue Flag), Pržno, and Sveti Stefan island. TTM picks up from any hotel in Budva, Bečići, Rafailovići, Pržno, or anywhere on the Budva Riviera. Dhermi is a village of white stone houses and Byzantine church ruins on the steep mountain slope above a long curved bay of turquoise Ionian water — one of the most celebrated beach destinations in Albania. Fixed price 330€.
The route heads south through Bar, crosses at Sukobin into Albania, continues through Shkodër and Lezhë past Durrës to Vlorë (rest stop), then ascends the Albanian Riviera corniche through Palasë to Dhermi. TTM drops at any guesthouse or hotel in Dhermi. Cash on arrival, 24/7.
Fine pebble and sand, turquoise Ionian water, and the mountain above — comparable to the best Greek island beaches at a fraction of the cost.
The approach from Vlorë via Palasë is on the most dramatic coastal mountain road in the Mediterranean.
Planned rest stop at Vlorë ~4h from Budva. Natural break before the Riviera section.
Budva → Bar → Sukobin → Shkodër → Lezhë → Durrës → Vlorë (rest) → Palasë → Dhermi. ~330 km. ~7h. Fixed 330€.
The main Dhermi beach — a long curve of fine pebble and sand at the base of the mountain slope, with the Ionian Sea in a shade of blue-green that rivals the finest beaches in Greece — is the primary destination for the overwhelming majority of visitors. Clear water, reasonable depth for swimming, and a backdrop of the mountain above and the coastal road visible on the cliff are its defining features.
The old village of Dhermi on the mountain slope above the beach — stone houses, narrow lanes, and the partially preserved Byzantine-era church of Shën Todri (St. Theodore) with its medieval frescoes — is one of the most atmospheric historic settlements on the Albanian Riviera. The walk from the beach up to the old village is worth the effort for the views and the character of the old stone quarter.
The coastal mountain road from Vlorë to Sarandë — the Albanian Riviera corniche — is one of the finest coastal drives in the Mediterranean: the mountain descends directly to the Ionian, the road clings to the cliff face with hairpin bends above vertical drops, and the views over the water are extraordinary at every turn. Dhermi is on this road, accessible directly by car, and the approach from above is one of the most dramatic arrivals of any beach destination in Albania.
Himara (15 km south) is the main town of the Albanian Riviera — a Greek-Albanian mixed community with a lively promenade, restaurants, and the Himara castle above the town. Palasë (10 km north) is a quieter beach with fewer visitors. Sarandë and Ksamil are 80 km south with the Butrint UNESCO site nearby. TTM can arrange onward transfers from Dhermi to any of these destinations on request.
