Mojkovac is a highland town on the upper Tara river in northern Montenegro, at the entrance to the Tara Canyon Park narodowy — the deepest river gorge in Europe at 1,300 metres. The town is historically significant as the site of the Battle of Mojkovac (January 1916), where a small Montenegrin force held off an Austro-Hungarian army to allow the Serbian army's retreat to Corfu — one of the most celebrated episodes of Montenegrin military history.
Mojkovac is the most accessible starting point for the popular Tara white-water rafting section, with day and multi-day trips running from Šćepan Polje. The town sits 100 km north of Podgorica on the main northern highway and is also a gateway to the Sinjajevina plateau to the west and Biogradska Gora Park narodowy to the south. TTM picks up from any Mojkovac address.
